Food Net History:
Food Net in Iberia Parish will be celebrating it’s 35th anniversary in 2021. It was originally started in Iberia Parish by Juanita Knudson, a member of the St. Nicholas Social Concern, the Food Bank for St. Nicholas Parish, located in Lydia, LA.
Eventually, Gerald and Jane Patin served as coordinators after Mrs. Knudson moved out of state. In 2012, John Indest took over as coordinator and served for 9 years. In 2021, John Indest passed on the torch to Wess Robison and ON TAP.
In the larger picture, Food Net of Acadiana has been taken over by Catholic Charities of Lafayette. They are now the sponsoring organization. KLFY, Channel 10 has been a major promoter of Food Net. New Iberia native, Mike Barras (now deceased) was instrumental in getting this project started.
ON TAP is proud to continue this tradition and serve those in need within Iberia Parish.
