The biggest bridal expo in South Louisiana brought many blushing brides-to-be to the Cajundome Convention Center Sunday afternoon.

Co-Emcee for the 13th Annual Louisiana Bridal Expo, Troy Leger, said the event is the perfect place to be if you are planning a wedding.

“It’s 130 vendors all bringing everything that has anything to do with being married and celebrating a marriage and a honeymoon all in one place,” said Leger.

Leger said each year organizers expect over 200 brides and almost 5,000 people at the expo.

While the event is a time saver, it’s also great for brides on a budget.

“You save a lot of money and time because you’re in one place. Everything is here so that’s one of the things that brides love. Plus, you can bring all of your bridesmaids are with you all at one time. Everybody can see everything in the same place,” said Leger.

Bride to be Zellie Parker said this is a bride’s dream come true.

“I’m excited because there’s a lot to learn, a lot to find out, and on top of that you can find ways to budget your money. You can also win prizes like honeymoons you want to go on, what kind of experiences and what kind of wedding you want to have,” said Parker.

Bridal Expo Organizer and Co-emcee, Jeni Lane said along with winning a free honeymoon and a number of other prizes, couples can also register to win a wedding.

“We’ll have twenty brides that will dive into this cake. We’ve just got this huge cake on the side of us and they’re going to dive into this cake for a ring and whoever finds the ring wins a wedding,” said Lane.

Lane said it takes quite a while to get such a big event together every year.

“We start planning for this back in the spring. We work on this for several months and it all comes together for one big afternoon,” said Lane.
